Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, leaders have already started campaigns and many of them are indulging in personal attacks. Even those in the A-list are no exception. While Congress president Rahul Gandhi has slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi yet again over the Rafale deal and said “PM stole money from the Air Force and gave it to the Ambanis”, Modi on Sunday alleged that the Rafale deal was bitterly opposed by the Congress for the sake of commission. “Your local MP promised that he would ensure employment to 1,500 locals in this ordnance factory but merely 200 got jobs. Imagine those who couldn’t ensure jobs to people in Amethi are now lecturing on employment,” he said, hitting out at Rahul in his turf.
For his part, BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday said a democratic system was adopted in the country so that a ‘foolish son’ of a monarch did not come to power. Opposition parties have made a mockery of democracy by creating a new dynastic system where every leader’s son succeeds him, he said. Shah was speaking at an event organised by the Jain International Trade Organisation to raise funds for the Pulwama terrorist attack victims. “What was wrong with the king and his kingdom? It had only one problem. Even if the king’s son was a fool, he would succeed the king,” he said.
Though Shah did not mention any politician or party, it was obvious who he was talking about. Coming to Tamilnadu, the State which is always known for mudslinging by politicians, is witnessing heated remarks exchanged by leaders. These are the days of social media and anything wrong uttered by leaders is shot and uploaded on SM platforms. And, they have the potential to impact vote(r)s. So, politicians should mind their tongue and talk positive things, rather than indulging in negative talk.
