Chennai: Distraught on being accused of theft, a domestic help who worked at DMK general secretary K Anbazhagan’s house in Kilpauk, allegedly attempted suicide this morning.
According to the police, A Nalini, 35, of Villivakkam is undergoing treatment at Government Kilpauk Government Hospital after she took an overdose of sleeping tablets.
On 1 March, a theft was reported at the house of Anbazhagan. His personal secretary Natarajan lodged a complaint with the Secretariat Colony police that 11 sovereigns of gold – four gold bangles and one bracelet – was missing.
Nalini, working as a domestic help of the family, was questioned by the police in this connection. It is alleged that she left the house 28 February after work and the family found the valuables missing.
