Chennai: It was an action-filled day at the DMK headquarters Anna Arivalayam at Teynampet as talks for the alliance were held with multiple parties.

Earlier in the day it was reported the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) had decided to exit from the DMK as the first round of talks did not go as planned.

However, later the party was called for one more round. It is said MMK has sought to contest from Thirunelveli and is even ready to face the polls in the DMK’s Rising Sun symbol. Post the meeting MMK president M H Jawaharullah said he will discuss the developments with his party cadres and will decide on the further course of action.

While these talks were held on one side, Communist party of India (Marxist) was allotted two seats in the Lok Sabha election during the third round of meeting.

The poll pact was signed by CPI(M) state secretary K Balakrishnan and DMK president M K Stalin. The Marxist party has also extended its full support in all the constituencies during the Lok Sabha election and 21 constituencies in the Assembly by-elections.

Meanwhile a meeting of MDMK leaders to discuss the constituencies from which the party should contest and if it is okay to contest in the Rising Sun symbol was held. After the meet, MDMK general secretary Vaiko went to Arivayalam.

Meanwhile, Vaiko has announced that the party will not involve in black flag protest during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Chennai tomorrow.

“We will show black flag only if Modi visits the State to inaugurate government schemes,” he said.

It is said senior leaders from DMK and alliance parties will take part in the public meeting arranged by Congress 13 March in which Congress president Rahul Gandhi will participate.

Sources said DMK and the alliance parties are planning to kickstart their election campaign from this meeting.
