CTH Road at Ambattur, Chennai, is now shrinking as each day passes by due to encroachments. Residents say shops have taken over platforms and use a part of the road for their parking purposes.
“It is disheartening to see traffic here, especially when people are trying to get to the railway station nearby. The road is wide enough but encroachments need to be removed. Shopkeepers need to keep in mind that pavements are not places for them to sell food. They also need to know that the road is not their front porch and they need to remove their boards and vehicles from there. The cops fail in their attempt to clear the mess because the shopkeepers come back immediately after they have been asked to move” said Janani, a student.
