Chennai: In a horrifying incident, a man murdered his son and assaulted his wife at Ramapuram in the wee hours of today. Residents living nearby rushed to the spot and nabbed the man and handed him over to the police.
According to the police, Shakthivel (50) lived in Senthamil Nagar, Ramapuram, with his wife Lokanayaki (45), son Sathish (21) and a daughter.
The family moved into this neighbourhood one-and-a-half months ago. Sathish worked as a typist. However, fight break out in the family with Shakthivel often suspecting Lokanayaki of extra-marital relationships. He even stalked her to work. Sathish, who did not like his fatherĀs behaviour, told him stop.
This soon became a fight between the father and son. Last night, Sathish went to sleep after a fight with Shakthivel. But, in the morning, he was stabbed to death using a kitchen knife.
Hearing his screams, Lokanayaki came to stop Shakthivel. But, she too was stabbed. Hearing their cries for help, neighbours rushed to the spot and nabbed Shakthivel. Royala Nagar police, who arrived at the spot, took him to custody.
Even as Sathish was taken to Kilpauk Government hospital, he was declared brought dead. Lokanayaki is undergoing treatment for injuries she suffered on her hands. Shakthivel was later arrested.
