Suguna, a resident of New Balaji Nagar, Chennai, has been involved in several measures aimed at the development of the locality, for a long time now.

Speaking to News Today, the activist said, she wanted to do something for the betterment of the area with her limited resources.

“I do not restrict myself to one particular work and try to help as much as possible. Starting from removal of garbage to protesting against TASMAC outlets, I do what I feel is right,” she said.

Stating that she does not do anything for publicity, she said, “I want to make sure that I leave a better society for my children to live in. Whenever I start doing some activity, the women in the locality come to help me.”

It may be noted that during the Vardah cyclone, Suguna hired a tractor and removed the trees that were fallen on the road. She also used mobile generators and helped in filling tanks with water.

The resident also came in for much appreciation, when she raised her voice against TASMAC outlets. “Following requests made by several women in the locality, we staged a protest against liquor shops, but unfortunately, no action has been taken yet,” she noted.

She further said that she will continue to lend her voice for the problems in the neighbourhood, and try to solve them as much as she can.

“I must thank my husband Thiyagu and my brother-in-law who support me in all my endeavours,” she concluded.
