Satyabrata Sahoo

Chennai:Ā Tamilnadu Chief Elector Officer Satyabrata Sahoo said 8 lakh people have enrolled their names in the voters list and the work to add their names is 95 per cent complete. Their names will be included in the electoral roll today. However they will not be given voter ID this time but they can cast their vote by showing any of the 11 permissible ID cards, he said.

The CEO said training was given to 3.5 lakh election officers. “About seven to eight per cent officials did not take part in the training. Separate session will be arranged for them. Department wise action will be taken against those who fail to attend the training,” he said.

He further said steps have been taken to ensure that 3.5 lakh government officials on election duty, 64,000 para military personnel and police officials cast their votes through post.
