Coimbatore: During a regular check yesterday, the election flying squad seized Rs 1.21 crore from a van in Salem district.
The cash was unaccounted and the occupants of the van could not produce relevant documents although they claimed that the cash was meant to be deposited in an ATM.
In a separate incident, two wheeler riders near Mettupalayam were caught having Rs 18 lakh in cash with no valid documents. They had claimed that the cash was to be deposited in a bank.
A couple of days ago, about Rs 1.83 crore was deposited at ATMs seized in Salem but nobody has claimed the money so far and it was thus seized.
