Bengaluru: “Is it a major achievement (of Modi government)? There is a team of scientists in the country specifically for that purpose. They do their job in a routine manner, irrespective of whichever government is in power. So using somebody else’s work, should anyone seek votes? It is the contribution of citizens who are experts in some specialised fields,” questioned Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy yesterday slamming Modi.

The Prime Minister had made the announcement that India had yesterday shot down a satellite revolving at the low earth orbit, and thus joined the league of other developed nations. Mocking Modi, Kumaraswamy claimed that the PM was seeking votes using the work done by someone else.

He further alleged that the prime minister made everyone wait for half-an-hour, whether they were in the bathroom, office or bus stand. He told the media present that they need such stories to attribute every achievement to Modi. “This is an era where achievements started 50 years ago are projected as if something done now by Modi,” he slammed.

Dinesh Gundu Rao, Karnataka Pradesh Congress president, lauded and credited scientists and engineers at IISc, DRDO and ISRO for the achievement. He further said that although it was a matter of pride, India became space super power long back which is contradictory to what Modi had said.

Former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah too gave credit to the previous Prime Ministers and scientists for the development of A-SAT.
