Theni: In a shocking incident, a man was attacked and mauled by a bearĀ in Kandamanur forest area in Theni.
Ganesan is a farmer fromĀ Siraparai village. The bear attacked him when heĀ was on his way to a neighbouring farm. Hearing his cries the locals saved him and chased the animal away. The victim was admitted to theĀ government medical college hospital here.
Police said bear attacks were very rare in the area and believed that the animal would have come in search of water.
