Chennai: Just ten days into IPL 2019, we have already seen, three centuries, a hat-trick and what not, even a super over. With still more than a month remaining in this edition of the IPL, it promises much more action. News Today takes a look at some of the players who have lit up the IPL in the first ten days.

David Warner

Much was spoken about David Warner, who made his return to competitive cricket this year after facing a one-year ban because of the ball-tampering scandal. The orange cap winner in the 2017 edition, could not feature in the last year’s IPL and there were doubts about his performance. But the southpaw made heads turn smashing 254 runs in just three matches including a century and two half-centuries.

Andre Russel

Andre Russell has emerged as one of the fierce hitters in white ball cricket and his abilities came to the fore in all the three games that KKR played as he rescued them with lusty blows against Sunrisers, KXIP and Delhi with a 19-ball 49, 17-ball 48 and 28-ball 62. Having lit up this year’s IPL, his services will be missed for the next three weeks as he dislocated his shoulder. It will be a huge loss for KKR and they hope Carlos Brathwaite will play a similar role for them.

Sam Curran

Having played just two games in IPL so far, Sam Curran became the youngest player in IPL to bag a hat-trick as he helped KXIP win against Delhi Capitals, last night. With his left-arm bowling, he is good with his yorkers and is bowling well at the death overs. He is also handy with the bat and looks like a big asset in Ashwin’s team.

Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson’s flamboyant batting was once again at display few days ago when he became the first batsman to hit a century in this year’s edition. Strong with the wrists and playing the classical cover drives, Sanju Samson’s batting was pleasing to the eyes. He has displayed his talent in the previous editions as well but it is his inconsistency that is still a talking point.

MS Dhoni

He had done it numerous times, but against Rajasthan Royals, a couple of days ago Dhoni once again lifted his team to post a big total. After CSK lost three wickets Dhoni played a sensible knock with a well-made 75 , enthralling the Chennai crowd. The highlight of the knock was three consecutive sixes of the last three balls of the 20th over off Unadkat that made the difference. Dhoni’s team is also placed well at the top in the points table and Dhoni the captain is vying for another good run with CSK this year.
