Chennai: Consumer electronics major, Haier announced that it will be investing Rs 3,069 crore to set up its second Industrial Park in the country. The company had last year signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Uttar Pradesh.
To come up in Greater Noida, the announcement was made at an event that was attended by Liang Hai Shan, the vice chairman of board and executive president at Haier Group. He was joined by VP, Global Appliances Haier Group, Song Yujun who is also the MD, Haier South and South East Asia and president of Haier Appliances India, Eric Braganza.
The second industrial Park of the company will hold a capacity to produce two million units of refrigerators, one million units of LED TVs, one million units of washing machines and air conditioners in a year when fully completed, a release said.
Haier India is also expected to generate around 4,000 new direct employment opportunities along with over 10,000 indirect jobs in the country.
Song Yujun, said, “India is a big market for us and we would like to continue to invest here in manufacturing and simultaneously design technological innovations specifically for our Indian consumers. Presently, India is the highest contributing overseas market for the brand Haier as part of the group and we’re very optimistic of the growth we’re witnessing here.”
