Chennai / Coimbatore: More troubles are in for DMK president M K Stalin who was warned by the Madras High Court Thursday for his speeches linking Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami with the Kodanadu robbery and murder.
Today, the Thondamuthur police filed cases against him under three sections for his remarks against Municipal Administration Minister S P Velumani. Sources said the cases were filed against Stalin based on the speech during his campaign yesterday at Thondamuthur.
Seeking votes for the party’s Pollachi candidate Shanmuga Sundaram, Stalin said, “Though Velumani is the Local Administration Minister he is not even able to conduct the civic polls. His only aim is corruption and is number one in it. He surpasses Palaniswami in this aspect. Velumani is the reason that the State is ranked number one in corruption. Cases will be filed against Velumani as soon as DMK comes to power.”
It is also said Stalin had alleged that Velumani was protecting the suspects in the Pollachi sexual abuse case. Following this, cases have been filed against him today.
Only on Thursday, the Madras High Court warned Stalin against linking Palaniswami to the theft-cum-murder that happened in Kodanadu Estate that was frequented by former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
The court said it would be constrained to remove the stay on hearing the defamation case filed by the government against Stalin for linking Palaniswami to the incidents that happened in Kodanadu Estate in Nilgiris district.
The court heard the petition filed by the State government to remove the stay on hearing the defamation case.
It also ordered the submission of videos of Stalin’s public rallies where he had spoken linking Palaniswami to Kodanadu incidents.
