It was a memorable day for cricket fans in the neighbourhood, when West Indies player Alvin Kallicharran paid a visit to Kedar Academy, a cricket club functioning at Ramakrishna Mission Grounds, recently.

The left-handed all-rounder suggested youngsters to take up cricket seriously from the age of eight, which will give space and mental strength to develop into a full-fledged player in time.

The former West Indies captain recalled his earlier days when he used to play after helping his parents in their paddy fields.
“When compared to that time, there are plenty of training facilities with equipment available now. Youngsters should make use of every opportunity and come out with flying colours in every match they play,” he went on to say.

Earlier, academy founder Kedar Nath welcomed the cricketer and introduced him to other members. Ashok Anand, chief coach and Bala, manager of the academy, also took part in the programme.
