Chennai:Â Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo has said so far 47,610 postal votes have been received from 3,27,903 government employees who are involved in the election duty.
Addressing mediapersons at the Secretariat, Monday, he said, “Those who are not government employees but are involved in the election duty will be given election duty certificate which they can use to vote in any booth in their constituency. He said so far 2,38,051 certificates have been given. Apart from this, 67,000 service votes for defence personnel have been provided online.”
He added that there are 24,971 police votes out of which 10,657 have received their election duty certificate.
Satyabrata further said so far 4,024 cases have been filed for violation of Election Code of Conduct.
The Chief Electoral Officer said DMK has requested to transfer a few IAS and IPS officers which is being discussed with the Election Commission.
Speaking about the arrangements made for the different-abled and senior citizens, Satyabrata Sahoo said, “All district Collectors and electoral officers have been instructed to ensure that there are ramps, wheel chairs and volunteers to assist different-abled persons and senior citizens at the polling booth.”
He added that differently-abled people do not have to wait in queue to vote and Braille scripts are provided in the EVMs. “Around 67,000 volunteers will be deployed on polling day,” he said.
