Colombo:Â A three-member committee headed by an Supreme Court judge has been appointed by the Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena to investigate and probe the series of deadly terror attacks.
The members of the panel are apex court judge Vijith Malalgoda, former IGP N K Ilangakoon and Former Law & Order Ministry Secretary Padamasiri Jayamanne. They have been asked to submit a report within two weeks.
The committee has been instructed to submit the probe report on the explosion within two weeks to the President, the report said. Sunday’s explosions targeted Easter worshippers – St Anthony’s Church in Colombo, St Sebastian’s Church in the western coastal town of Negombo and another church in the eastern town of Batticaloa – and popular 5-star hotels: the Shangri-La, the Cinnamon Grand and the Kingsbury.
290 people were killed and 500 injured in the devastating blasts, which were carried out by seven suicide bombers. Foreigners and locals who were injured in hotel blasts were admitted to the Colombo General Hospital.
