Chennai: A plea seeking arrest of K Veeramani of Dravidar Kazhagam party for his remarks against Lord Krishna was closed by the Madras High Court yesterday.
While the petitioner asked the court to direct the arrest of the Dravidian party’s leader, Veermani’s advocate K Ashok had alleged that the leader had made the remarks in the context of the Pollachi sexual harassment case.
Sub-Inspector of Police, Cyber Crime cell, Central Crime Branch, submitted a counter-affidavit saying that an FIR was already registered on the petitioner’s complaint. Steps have been taken for deletion of the video from circulation on social media.
Details of people who uploaded the video of Veeramani’s remarks online was also sought. Under Criminal Procedure code, a notice has been issued to the leader asking him to appear for an enquiry and if he fails to do so, legal action would be taken against him. Justice R Subramanian, after recording the submission, closed the petition.
