Biometric attendance for TN school teachers

Chennai: To ensure the attendance of teachers working in Government High Secondary schools in Tamilnadu, biometric form of calculation will be launched coming June.

Efforts for implementing the same is being undertaken by Tamilnadu School Education Department from this academic year. Through this process, the total count of government schools, teachers and vacant numbers are being collected.

As part of it, the system will be installed in 3688 Government High Schools and 4040 higher secondary schools in the first phase. The staff have also been instructed to send their details to top education officials. The information sent by the employee will be collated with the Aadhaar data and would be uploaded EMIS website. The staff at schools are being trained to operate and get accustomed with the system.

Speaking on this regard, officials from the department said, “People are being trained to enter the data on an exclusive software in 24 districts.”
