Chennai: “The introduction of one-way entry at Thyagaraya Road from Anna Salai, for the implementation of the ongoing Pedestrian Plaza project, is inconveniencing many, especially office-goers,” felt Prakash Galada, a long-time resident of Venkatanarayana Road.
“While there are various alternate ways available for entering from Anna Salai, the authorities should have given entry from Panagal Park side only. Not only that, there are plenty of motorists, who to reach places like Teynampet, are forced to drive a long way either to Anna Flyover stretch through GN Chetty Road or to Nandanam signal to reach their work places,” he pointed out.
“This decision should have been made, taking into account the user aspect and residents’ point of view. In fact, there are plenty of commuters from Panagal Park side to reach areas like Sivagnanam Street, Sivaprakasam and Deenadayalu Streets, but now with the restrictions in place, they are clueless,” he said.
“As the project seems to be taking considerable time for completion, the civic body should allow entry from Panagal Park side instead of Anna Salai, which will benefit many residents and commuters,” he stated.
