Thanjavur: A pet dog laid down its own life to save its master from a cobra in Vengarayankudikaadu village.
The dog fought and killed the venomous snake when it was about to attack it master 50-year-old Natarajan, a farmer.
Even as the man rushed to bring a stick and chase the reptile away, the dog suffered bites and died subsequently. People of the village after hearing about the heroic act of the dog, gathered at Natarajan’s house and paid their respects.
According to media reports, Natarajan turned emotional when he picked up the dead dog, and held it close to his chest before giving it a tearful burial near his house.
