Director Pa Ranjith’s passion to show the struggles of the oppressed is well known and he has been working for quite some time to bring the story of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda to the large screen.
The film will go on floors soon and sources say Ranjith is planning to shoot major parts in interior forests of Ranchi. He has been scouting locations for the same.
The efforts Ranjith put to recreate Dharavi in Kabali was much appreciated and it was mainly because the director spent months on location with his team. We hear Ranjith is taking similar efforts for the Birsa Munda biopic.
Birsa Munda was instrumental in executing guerilla attacks against the British Government who tried to take away the land of tribal Munda community. Birsa Munda bravely fought against the British Government and died in the prison at the age of 25.
Birsa Munda’s portrait hangs in the Parliament of India and he is the only tribal leader who was honored by the Indian Government.
