Chennai: Though very severe cyclonic storm Fani is giving Tamilnadu a miss and will be hitting the Odisha coast 36 hours from today, the Regional Meteorological Centre here says heavy winds would hit the Chennai coast.
The cyclone lies 690 km southwest of Chennai and is moving at 16 km per hour northwestwards to the Odisha coast.
It is likely to barrel into the Odisha coast tomorrow evening.
Wind speeds are likely to be high in the coastal region of northern Tamilnadu, says the Chennai Met office.
