Speaker Dhanapal

Chennai:Ā AIADMK MLA yesterday filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeing a stay on Tamilnadu Speaker’s notice. This move comes days after three MLAs A Prabhu (Kallakurichi), VT Kalaiselvan (Vriddhachalam) and E Rathinasabapathy (Aranthangi) who were loyal to T T V DhinakaranĀ being slapped with a notice by P Dhanapal seeking an explanation under the anti-defection law for anti-party activities.

Speaking to reporters, Kalaiselvan said,Ā “We have filed a petition in the Supreme Court, seeking a stay on the notice of Speaker Dhanapal. It has been admitted and the matter is coming up for hearing on May 6.”

He stated in the the petition to the SC, he had affirmed their support to theĀ AIADMK andĀ the state government and that they had not acted against the interests of the ruling party.

Rathinasabapathy and KalaiselvanĀ their association with TTV Dhinakaran ceased once it was announced on 19 April to register AMMK as a separate political party.

Kalaiselvan claimed that even a Delhi High Court judgment has said that AMMK’s status was that of a split group of the AIADMK.

Main opposition DMK yesterday moved the Supreme Court against Tamilnadu Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal for sending notices to three AIADMK MLAs.
