Chennai: After a long wait, senior residents of Rangarajapuram, Chennai, have lost all hopes of better connectivity in the neighbourhood.
It may be noted that in February, News Today reported about problems faced by commuters, due to inadequate bus service.
This was primarily because, small bus S32 which passed through here, was cancelled. Subsequently, it came to be known that the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC), had reduced the frequency of mini buses in few areas, while completely scrapping the same in others.
“One main reason for this move was that these were not financially viable. This led to office-goers, college students and senior citizens finding it hard to commute,” said sources.
Speaking on this, Ramya, a resident from Rangarajapuram, shared her concerns. “It’s been a year since the services were disrupted, inconveniencing all of us,” she says. “For instance, the vehicle that passed from CMBT to Nungambakkam, helped residents travel to Vadapalani and T Nagar with ease. But after the official move, many residents were left stranded,” she adds.
Stating that their troubles would be reduced, if share autos ply through the locality, she says, “But neighbourhood auto drivers warn them not to come here, as their business would be affected.”
