Chennai: A teenager was held by the public after he snatched the mobile phone of another college-goer at Villivakkam.
According to the police, last night, a student identified as M Saveetha, was walking at SIDCO Nagar junction while talking over the phone when two men on a bike snatched her phone and sped off.
However, the public chased and caught them.
The police said while they caught and handed over one person to the police, the other one manged to escape with the phone.
Premkumar Karunakaran (18), a college student, was held for the crime. His accomplice Seeni is absconding.
When the public rounded them up, Premkumar, who was riding the high-end bike, lost control and fell. Seeni escaped with the phone.
The Villivakkam police have registered a case.
