Bengaluru: After the Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar announced that for those students who missed writing NEET due to train delay in Karnataka the exams would be held again, the State CM H D Kumaraswamy thanked him.
Chief Minister’s Office tweeted, “Thank you @PrakashJavdekar and @HRDMinistry for considering the request and helping our students. @hd_kumaraswamy #NEET.”
Javadekar had announced that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for these students will be conducted on 20 May.
On Sunday, hundreds of students had missed the exam after their train reached Bengaluru an hour after the scheduled reporting time. Also many missed the exam due to a change in an exam centre without any prior information.
Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had highlighted the issue and tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his tweet on Sunday. Following this, Kumaraswamy held a meeting with Karnataka Chief Secretary T M Vijaya Bhaskar and Higher Education Department officials in this regard.
The chief secretary on the direction of the CM requested the HRD ministry to let students take up the exam again, followed by which the ministry assured that they will take a decision soon.

He had reportedly written to Javdekar asking the minister to give another chance for the students who had missed NEET Exam.
