Chennai: The Madras High Court (HC) has ordered the police to submit a detailed report regarding the death of ‘lottery king’ Santiago Martin’s assistant.
Palaniswami, found dead 3 May, was the accountant at Martin Homoeopathy Medical College and Hospital. The HC also ordered the body of the deceased to be kept at Coimbatore Government College.
The case came to light a day after Palaniswami allegedly committed suicide, as his son Rohin filed a complaint with the police. The Coimbatore Rural Police registered a case against Income-Tax Department officers for reportedly abetting the suicide of the 45-year-old accountant.

Rohin had mentioned in the complaint that his father committed suicide after he was harassed and beaten up by the I-T sleuths.
The death of Palaniswami happened as tax raids took place at the Coimbatore-based businessman Martin’s properties across the State Saturday.
Taxmen said they seized Rs 595 crore of unaccounted money in currency notes, payment receipts, gold and diamonds.
Earlier, Martin’s press in Hyderabad also came under the scanner.
