Chennai: In what seems like a movie script, a man who was brought to strike a comprise in a business deal, turned out to be a kidnapper.
According to the police, Mohammed Jahir (52), a realtor, came in contact with Ramakrishnan and Durairaj regarding the sale of a plot in Semmenchery.
Even as the duo paid an advance amount, Jahir stopped responding to them and deferred the land sale.
When things escalated, Jahir introduced John Ilango as a mediator to resolve the issue.
As the talks went on 10 May, in a bizarre turn of events, John, Ramakrishnan and Durairaj kidnapped Jahir. They contacted his wife and asked for a ransom of Rs 1 crore.
After the money was handed over, Jahir was released at Anna Square and the gang fled.
Jahir lodged a complaint with the Thoraipakkam police. A case was registered and the police traced John to Coimbatore and arrested him. He was brought to the city this morning.
The other two are still missing.
