Coimbatore: Forest officials yesterday caught a man who was wanted for allegedly killing an elephant calf three years ago.
The accused identified as Ranga alias Rajendra was absconding since July 2016. He was wanted in connection to killing the elephant with a country bomb.
He had allegedly planted the country bomb to put an end to elephant menace on his field. But an elephant calf accidentally took the explosive in its mouth and was killed in the explosion.
The police had already arrested three people in connection to the case. Rajendran was produced before court and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
