Chennai: Large bins made of bamboo have been installed at the Krishnapuri Park at RA Puram for conservation of dry leaves, green materials and kitchen waste.
The composting process was started at the park recently and upon request from H Lakshman Rao, a resident of the area, the Corporation officials have installed the bamboo pits.
“It is heartening to see the Corporation reviewing the proposal and installing bamboo bins so that the use of plastic currently used as bins can be avoided,” said Lakshman Rao.
“The Corporation may also consider installing such bamboo-based bins in all Corporation parks around the city,” he added.
