Chennai: Counting of votes polled in the Lok Sabha elections began today. All eyes are on Delhi where there is a three-cornered contest among the BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party. There are totally seven seats in the Union Territory.
Delhi could see a complete saffron sweep with the BJP leading in almost every constituency.
Among the big gainers here are Ramesh Bidhuri (South Delhi) and Parvesh Verma (West Delhi), apart from Gautam Gambhir (East Delhi). The party has managed big leads early and celebrations have already begun in the national capital.
The BJP alliance is reportedly leading in over 300 seats as trends show. Among the high-profile BJP candidates currently in the lead across the country are Amit Shah (Gandhinagar), Hema Malini (Mathura), Gautam Gambhir (East Delhi) and Sadhvi Pragya (Bhopal) apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
