Chennai: The ruling AIADMK and main Opposition DMK are both putting up a tough fight, as early trends in the by-elections to 22 Assembly constituencies show.

The AIADMK and DMK are leading in 10 seats each. If the same trend continues, there will not be any danger to the AIADMK government.

The AIADMK government, surviving on a wafer thin majority, has to win at least 8 to 10 seats for its survival.

T T V Dhinakaran’s AMMK and Kamal Haasan’s MNM, which faced elections for the first time, did not put up an impressive show as per early trends.
