Actor-music composer G V Prakash is a busy man these days. Besides acting in half-a-dozen movies, he is scoring music for a couple of biggies. And he is also coming up with a a series called Magathana Manithargal, which will be released in his Youtube channel. It is about unsung social activists.

Speaking to News Today, GV Prakash says, “When I protested at Neduvasal against the hydrocarbon project, I got in touch with many social activists. We realised that there are many unsung heroes everywhere and people don’t know about them. So my series is about such men.”

“It will be released on my YouTube channel. I have decided to fund it myself and not associate with any channels or else my message may shift as every channel have their own ideas,” he explains.

“It may lead to creative differences. I don’t want to sell this show as a commercial project. Through a YouTube channel, I can speak with more freedom. Also, digital media these days are brilliant.”

“The first episode is about a teacher named Mahalakshmi at Jawadhu hills,” he says.

“She took the initiative to bring more tribal students and make them study at her corporation school. She convinced the parents of the tribal community to make their war pursue education. Today about 400 students study in the school. It is fantastic. I was very happy to interview her. I was with the students and it was nice to interact with them.”

He adds, “I remember when launching a song on Jallikattu on my channel. Within a few days it reached over 5 lac views and I was overwhelmed by the impact.” He informed that each episode of Magathana Manidhargal has about 40 minutes of content. “But after editing, it will come around 20 minutes,” he says.

His next venture on big screen is the social action-drama Ayangaran. It is releasing 28 June. Directed by Raavi Arasu of ‘Eetti‘ fame, it features Mahima Nambiar as heroine.

His other projects are in various stages of production. They 100% Kadhal opposite Shalini Pandey, Jail, directed by Vasantabalan, Adangathey, 4G, Sivappu Manjal Pachai with Siddharth, Kadhalikka Yaarumillai with Raiza Wilson and an untitled film with director Ezhil. He will be composing for Dhanush’s Asuran and Soorarai Pottru for Suriya.
