Chennai: Three buffaloes and two calves were electrocuted after a live wire fell into the pool of stagnant water on Poonamallee Bypass road yesterday.
According to the police, the wire fell into the water after a lorry passing by snapped it and portion of the wire fell into the pool.
The buffaloes cooling in it were electrocuted. The bovines belong to a resident identified as Susheela. In the evenings, she lets them go out for grazing after which they come and sit in the water.
The carcasses were removed from the spot. The police said they were waiting for a veterinarian to examine them and issue a certificate and would then hand it over to the owner.
