Chennai:Ā Deputy Chief Minister and AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam, along with his son and Theni MP O P Raveendranath Kumar, visited former CM J Jayalalithaa’s memorial at the Marina and paid tributes.
He was accompanied by AIADMK office-bearers, including Minister R B Udhayakumar.
Raveendranath was the only AIADMK candidate to have successfully contested the 2019 general elections. His father spent almost the entire campaign time in Theni and was able to bring Prime Minister Narendra Modi also to canvass in the constituency.
All this paid off with Raveendranath being the sole contestant to stem the AIADMK washout during the polls that saw DMK win handsomely.
After elections, it was strongly rumoured that he would be offered a ministerial berth in Modi’s Cabinet but that was not to be. He will continue to be only an AIADMK MP in Parliament.
