Sri Ayyappa Seva Samajam managing the Ayyappa Temple donated Rs one lakh towards school fees of 20 students belonging to the economically poor section of society studying in UCCK Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vanagaram, Aynambakkam.
The cheque for the amount was handed over by Dr C Bhasker, T V Jaidev and V G A Menon from Samajam to P Raju, president of the school at a function held on 3 June at the school premises.
This is the second time Samajam, has come forward to help poor students of the above school to pay their fees. The samajam is actively involved in extending assistance in the fields of education, healthcare and poor feeding for the last several years.
It may be recalled that samajam had donated Rs 10 lakh to Tamilnadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund for Gaja cyclone victims and Rs Five lakhs to Kerala Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund towards flood victims’ rehabilitation on earlier occasions.
