Chennai: Residents of Hastinapuram, Chitlapakkam and surrounding areas, want concerned authorities to increase the frequency of buses that ply here. During afternoons and nights, there is hardly any connectivity, they say.
According to sources, “During peak hours, the entire area gets crowded due to the low availability. Office-goers end up going late to work.”
“When there are no proper bus facilities, we are forced to rely on private autorickshaws. They use the opportunity and fleece us,” they add.
Also, commuters from several areas including Jain Nagar and AGS Colony in Hasthinapuram, have been seeking small bus services and another mini bus between Hasthinapuram and Chrompet, through Ganapathipuram and Radha Nagar.
We have made several representations, but all have fallen on deaf ears, they say. It is to be noted that the frequency of route numbers 66A and M18G (Hasthinapuram – Guduvancheri) is low, forcing them to wait for more than 30 minutes at the terminus each time.
“The more, the merrier for us,” states Devanathan, a senior citizen here, adding, “A fast developing suburb like ours will further develop, if there is adequate connectivity in place.”
