Chennai: Many architects across the city often speak of redesign the space under the bridges and use it for various purposes other than car parking.
According to a report, the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) consultant came up with an idea to set up libraries and yoga centres under flyovers. Sources revealed that flyovers at Alwarpet, Adyar, Guindy and Rangarajapuram have been selected.
Flyovers in our neighbourhood of late have suffered from severe garbage dumping and illegal car parking menace. Civic issues continue to plague the space under Kodambakkam flyover. Residents have consistently reported about the food waste being dumped by vegetable vendors here.
The space is dumped with several construction equipments, vegetable wastes and abandoned vehicles. If the proposal made by CMDA appointed consultant is finalised, it will be a major sigh of relief for residents.
