Chennai: In a horrific incident, a woman was attacked by a man and gravely injured at Chetpet railway station last night.
According to media reports, both the victim and the accused were natives of Erode and had known each other. The woman was working in a cooperative society in the city for the last three months.
The man had proposed marriage to her and an argument ensued between the two at the station. The man then hacked her with a sickle on the neck and jaw and also injured himself with it and fell on the railway track.
They both apparently belong to different communities and the man had proposed to her previously also and the girl’s family did not agree.
The woman suffered injuries to her jaw and could not communicate verbally now. Further investigations are on.
