Hyderabad: The excise enforcement team yesterday arrested a couple in the city for peddling drugs and seized nine grams of cocaine, Rs 3 lakh and a car from them.
The accused were identified as Shaik Fahad and his wife. They were detained while they were trying to allegedly sell cocaine in Banjara Hills yesterday, said a media report.
This comes days after the the enforcement team had seized seven grams of cocaine, two grams of opium besides Rs 1.13 lakh from two people. This happened on 2 June. Fahad was the main supplier and he along with his wife had escaped in his car, Assistant Excise Superintendent N Anjireddy was quoted as saying.
Fahad had purchased the drugs from a Nigerian national at Rs 6,000 per gram and started selling it at Rs 7,500 per gram. He was also taking orders for drugs over mobile phones through voice calls and WhatsApp calls/chats.
In connection to the case, several drug consumers have been named and identified. Case under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act have bee n registered against them.
