Chennai: French automaker Renault has revealed its new compact seven-seater in India. Called the Triber, Renault claims it is the outcome of a joint project between Renault teams in India and France and is the world’s first vehicle specifically designed for the Indian market.

Based on the same CMF-A platform as the Kwid, the car will be manufactured at the Chennai plant and hit the market in the second half this year. It is expected to be priced between Rs 5 and Rs 7 lakh.

The car will have a 1.0-litre SCe petrol motor generating 72hp and 96Nm of torque and will come with two gearbox options – a five-speed manual gearbox and a five-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).

It will have an eight-inch LCD infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is another 3.5-inch display for the instrument cluster. The Triber will have dual front airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, and a speed warning system as standard while the top variant also gets a reverse camera and passenger side airbags.
