Chennai: Tamilnadu Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal will be conducting the Business Advisory Committee meeting today at 12 noon to decide on the activities of the session that is being convened 28 June.
The budget for financial year 2019-2020 was tabled in the House 8 February 2019. Debate on the budget was held from 11 February to 13 February. After that the Assembly was adjourned sine die.
As general elections and by-elections followed, budget proposals for various departments could not be taken up in the House.
Now that the elections are done, budgetary demands for individual departments will be taken up and the budget allocation will be granted during the Assembly session that begins 28 June.
At this juncture, Dhanapal has called the Business Advisory Committee meeting at noon today. Leaders of the House, Opposition, various political parties and MLAs are expected to take part in the meeting as its members.
The meeting will decide on the duration of the Assembly session, the dates for each department’s budgetary demands and the debate on those demands.
