Chennai: Over the decades, Tamilnadu has carved a name for itself in medical tourism, particularly in the field of ophthalmology, said DMK president M K Stalin.
He was speaking during the inauguration of Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital’s new location on TTK Road, Alwarpet, Monday.
Stalin said, “I still remember former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s close association with Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospitals founder Dr Jaiveer Agarwal, and his son Dr Amar Agarwal. Karunanidhi had inaugurated the earlier premises of the hospital and he usually used to get his regular eye check-ups done at the facility.”
The state-of-the-art hospital at TTK Road sprawls across 30,000 sq ft and a press release stated that the expanded facility will offer comprehensive eyecare services and is equipped with latest equipment to conduct advanced and complex eye surgeries. More than 500 people pledged to donate their eyes on the occasion.
Dr Agarwal’s Group of Eye Hospital Ltd chairman Dr Amar Agarwal said, “We have been consistently focusing on patient care and cutting-edge innovations in the field of eyecare. Our research has paved the way for state-of-the-art treatment and diagnosis, and enabled us to successfully handle very complex eye surgeries.”
