Hyderabad: Congress party in Telangana is reeling under political crisis.
In the recently-held Lok Sabha elections, the Congress won only three of the 17 seats, and after the results 12 of its legislators quit and joined the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) led by Chandrasekar Rao.
With regard to this, many senior leaders of the party met yesterday and discussed Congress’s recent electoral reverses and its leaders parting ways.
Former MP V Hanumantha Rao and the party’s disciplinary action committee chairman M Kodanda Reddy were among those who attended the meeting.
According to media reports, the leaders felt that concrete steps should be taken to strengthen the party. Former MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy was quoted as saying that they would form Congress Loyalists Forum and would conduct wider consultations with other loyalists for forming the forum to take on the TRS and the BJP.
