Chennai: Starting 1 July, the Southern Railway is all set to run seven new trains in the Chennai suburban network.

A press release said, the Chennai Beach-Tambaram-Chengalpattu -Tirumalpur-Arakkonam Junction section has been revamped to provide better frequency of trains.

A new train will be introduced from Arakkonam Jn to Moore Market Complex (MMC) leaving Arakkonam Jn at 5.30 am and reaching MMC at 7.30 am.

A new train from Sullurupeta to MMC, will leave Sullurupeta at 5 am and reach MMC at 7.20 am. Similarly, in the return direction, the train from MMC to Sullurupeta will leave MMC at 9.15 pm and reach Sullurupeta at 11.35 pm.

Southern Railway has also introduced cross sectoral services. Existing EMU train running from Avadi to Chennai Beach, will leave Avadi at 5 pm and reach Chennai Beach at 5.50 pm. It will run as a cross sectoral train to Velacheri for the benefit of passengers from Avadi to Velacheri, reaching Velacheri at 6.35 pm.

Likewise, existing EMU train from Velacheri to Chennai Beach will leave Velacheri at 6.45 pm and reach Chennai Beach at 7.30 pm. It will ply as a cross sectoral train to Avadi for the benefit of passengers from Velacheri to Avadi, reaching Avadi at 8.30 pm.

A new train from Chennai Beach to Chengalpattu will run in the evening peak hours leaving Chennai Beach at 3.55 pm and reaching Chengalpattu at 5.35 pm. Similarly, in the return direction, a new train from Chengalpattu to Chennai Beach will leave Chengalpattu at 5.50 pm and reach Chennai Beach at 7.39 pm.
