Bengaluru: “Is Yeddyurappa’s permission required for it? What is wrong in going for for three days…is it a joke?” asked JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda, slamming the BJP for questioning Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s 3-day visit to the United States.
Gowda was reacting to a tweet by senior BJP leader K S Eshwarappa questioning Kumaraswamy’s priorities. “If someone asks chief minister about it he will question whether you have voted for me, rename your party from Janata Dal Secular to unquestionable Janata Dal,” said his tweet.
Speaking to reporters, Gowda said the CM had gone to the US for groundbreaking ceremony of Vokkaliga community’s Adichunchanagri seminary’s Kalabhairaveshwara temple. He further said that the community in US had gathered Rs 20 crore for it.
On 28 June, Kumaraswamy gave details of his visit saying that he was heading to the US to take part in two private functions. He also shared pictures of the temple ceremony. He also said in his tweet that he would be attending the Compete with China Investor Meet on Business Opportunities in Karnataka, which was being organised by Kannadigas in Washington DC and New York on 2 and 4 July.
The Karnataka government was keen on driving investment to the State, especially to its tier 2 and 3 cities, he added in his tweet.
Meanwhile, Gowda announced that the JD(S)’s proposed statewide footmarch that was aimed at strengthening the party would be organised in such a way that it does not cause any threat to the coalition government.
