Bengaluru: In a shocking revelation, a video of JDS MLA K Mahadev claiming to have been offered Rs 40 crore in cash was aired on local news channels yesterday.
This comes in the midst of the JDS and Congress claiming that BJP was trying to lure their MLAs by offering money.
The video shows Mahadev in his conversation with a group of people of his Piriyapatna constituency. He claimed rebel Congress MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi demanded Rs 80 crore for staying with the coalition. He also revealed that he himself was offered Rs 30-40 crore, but did not mention who tried to lure him.
“Rs 30-40 crore were brought to my room, but I threatened to call ACB (Anti Corruption Bureau) and asked them to take back. Thrice they brought money. My decision is not to sell myself for money. Rs 40 crore is not small amount, don’t know how to spend it,” the MLA said in the video.
It is to be noted that Jarkiholi has tendered resignation from the assembly membership recently. Following this, Congress accused the BJP of trying to lure the MLA. “Corruption money of BJP government at the centre is directly getting used for buying legislators,” read the party’s tweet.
However, BJP in Karnataka rejected the allegation. The party’s State Joint Spokesperson S Prakash alleged that the video was an attempt to divert attention from the crisis being faced by the coalition.
