Chennai: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has arrived in the Lok Sabha to present the 2019-2020 Union Budget.
She will be presenting the first budget of Modi government in its second innings this morning.
She is the first full-time woman Finance Minister of India and the second woman after Indira Gandhi to present the budget.
Deviating from the normal practice of the Finance Minister carrying the budget papers in a suitcase, Nirmala Sitharaman has added a touch of femininity by using a red cloth bag, embossed with the Indian symbol and neatly tied with a string.
Nirmala herself was seen draped in what seemed like a pinkish silk saree.
She was surrounded by photographers as she arrived at the gates of Parliament.
Earlier, she called on President Ram Nath Kovind.
The budget will be presented at 11 am.
