Chennai: Residents of Sixth Sector, KK Nagar, have requested the Electricity Department to find a permanent solution for the frequent transformer problems.
The transformer located at the intersection of 31st Street on Alagirisamy Salai has capacity issues. Due to this, residents are forced to use double-booster stabilisers for all electrical appliances.
“We cannot enjoy three-phase connection continuously due to the condition of the transformer,” said P Sathish Kumar, a resident of the area.
“We have had problems with major appliances – LED TV, microwave, cordless phone, normal stabilisers, chips and transformers – have got burnt due to the frequent high voltage,” Sathish alleged.
Residents said the issue has been there for the past few years and whenever there is a problem, they (TANGEDCO) come up with temporary solutions. “Two weeks ago, many houses faced sudden high-voltage and tube lights and electronic items got damaged,” said a shopkeeper in the locality.
A lot of flats and multi-storey buildings have come up in the locality. So, there should be a permanent solution for the power supply, said residents.
