Chennai: Residents of Trustpuram are increasingly concerned about the problem of unauthorised parking in the neighbourhood, so to say.

According to Vanaja, a resident, “There are three reasons for this issue. One is the dense canopy of trees on both sides of the road, the second is the wide nature of the footpaths and the third being ineffective police patrolling.”

She further alleges that many times, vehicles are parked in front of houses, which causes difficulties for people who want to go out. Similarly, Jebamani, a longtime resident here, says, “Even the vehicles seized by police personnel, are seen parked throughout the interior streets of Trustpuram. We have collectively given a representation to remove the automobiles placed by individuals, but are helpless, when it comes to the ones seized by the police department.”

In addition to this, another problem being faced by locals, is the delay in starting the stormwater drain work at Ratnammal Street in Kodambakkam.

Speaking on this, Rekha Ramanujam who resides here, states, “We are concerned because this street is prone to water-logging. Moreover, all kinds of garbage from the junction at Rangarajapuram Main Road, enters Ratnammal Street. Imagine our plight if the monsoon sets in. This work could have been completed in summer itself. We are disappointed as our repeated requests to the civic body in this regard, have not received any response. It will be a relief if this matter is taken up right away and a solution is brought about before the onset of showers.”

When News Today contacted the concerned authorities, it was informed that action on the above mentioned issues would be initiated shortly.
